TV-99-AD was originally called Art Decade, after a David Bowie song. When Hans Veneman joined Pieter Lub and Paul van der Lubbe in 1988 the name was changed to TV-99-AD. The name comes from a car number plate, but the AD was left over from the original name. The band originally played industrial pop songs, but later changed their style to techno/ambient/IDM. In 1995 TV-99-AD released a split CD with The Keyprocessor on legendary Dutch techno label Eevo Lute: Assembled 014/015. TV-99-AD also contributed a track, Mother G, to the Eevo Lute compilation album Agenda 23.
