'Shades of Black' consists of whoever is involved musically with a particular release but the permanent members are Paul Fox and Jonah Dan. Originally Shades of Black consisted of Julian Ryan, Jonah Dan and myself. The first release was in 1992 with a 12" called 'Writing on the Wall/ African Mask' on the Sound Business label. This was recorded at the Manasseh studio and became popular at dub sessions in the UK.
