“I just can’t sit still when I hear harsh beats!” … says the young Californian who has been living in Hamburg, Germany for a bit over 3 years now. After leaving the U.S. as a “political refugee” when George W. Bush was re-elected in 2005, Shaolyn (otherwise known as Lynne Welton) came to the birthplace of hard electronic music: Germany. “I chose to learn German in school, when everyone else learned Spanish and I have always loved bands like DAF. I have also always been politically active in California, so when Bush got re-elected I could not bear to live in that country anymore.
