Il Giardino Violetto was a gothic rock band from Rome, Italy, formed by Carlo (vocals, bass) and Serena (vocals, guitar). The band was born in 1989, from an advertisement posted up by Carlo in a record shop. A guitarist guy and a drummer girl named Serena replied to the ad. They started playing Joy Division covers in Serena's garage, but after some months of playing, the line-up is reduced from three members to just two, with the original guitarist leaving, Serena switching to guitar, and adding a drum machine.
