Before Stanton Lanier became known as a pianist, he was a chemist and then a financial planner; however, by November, 2009, he had recorded six albums! Stanton grew up in Chapel Hill, N.C., where he began studying the piano at age 6. Basketball and baseball tempted him to quit in middle school, but his parents would not permit that. He went on to write his first song at 14 and continued writing while studying chemistry at Georgia Tech. He then went on to earn an MBA from the University of Georgia.
