The Barbarellas were signed to Sydney label Citadel records in early 1990, who put out all their releases, starting with the debut 7" Dying Inside/Forget About You. The Barbarellas' brand of punchy power pop/rock was indelibly stamped on the local Sydney music scene with the release of the Fringe EP. The band enjoyed high rotation on Triple J with the track Depression and as a result, the record peaked at number two on the ARIA Independent Charts.
