Maurits Westerik is the singer and main songwriter of Dutch rock band GEM and his side-project The Giants of Húsavík. Westerik also performs (and records) as a solo artist, under his own name. During his solo performances he plays and sings GEM and The Giants Of Husavik material, but also Bob Dylan covers. Westerik is based in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
